Biography of Erica Baron
I am a lifelong Unitarian Universalist. I grew up in Vermont, attending the First UU Society of Burlington and then the Mount Mansfield Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. I went to college at UMass Amherst, where I majored in Social Thought and Political Economy and minored in French horn performance. While in college, I became very active in the UU Society of Amherst, serving on the Social Justice Committee, the Board of Trustees, and even (very briefly!) on the Finance Committee. After college, I spent a year working on an Irish horse farm in exchange for room and board. I began my Masters of Divinity degree at Andover Newton Theological School in the fall of 2004. I hope to graduate in 2008. I am excited to be here at First Parish as the student minister, putting my course work into practice.
I am planning to pursue Unitarian Universalist ministry after seminary. I feel particularly drawn to relatively small congregations, and to congregations who understand ministry as a shared venture between the ministers and lay people. I also have a particular passion for ministry with the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. In my spare time, I enjoy various art forms, in particular quilting and mosaics.
